Fiftieth page of my diary. Let me tell you about our August: the harvest started early but was super generous, with gorgeous grapes, wines bubbling away, and a vintage to remember. We’ve opened up the dates for winery visits over the next few months. At the bottom of this email, you’ll find the “What to drink” section. Every month, I tell you which bottle I’d open!
In the vineyARD: THE HARVEST
August wraps up with the harvest just finished, and what a harvest!
A truly generous year: healthy, beautiful, fragrant grapes, both in quantity and quality. All the vineyard work over these past months, from canopy management to plant protection, really paid off, literally.
The only hiccup? The intense heat at the beginning of August, which forced us to start picking about ten days earlier than planned. We thought we’d begin at the end of the month, but instead we were already out in the fields on August 17th with the youngest vines.
But in the end, the vineyard did its thing. It gave us a powerful crop that reflects the balance we’ve finally regained after the challenges of 2022. The wines are still fermenting, super young, but already bursting with energy.
If these first impressions hold true, this will definitely be a vintage to remember.

Why? Well, here’s the thing…
The dark fruit is opening up, slowly shifting toward brighter, redder, juicier tones. Just like Pinot Noir always does: at first it’s closed, a bit shy… but now, about a year after disgorgement, it’s finally starting to show its personality. The palate is nice and full, super savory, with that iodine edge, that salty note that lingers under your tongue. It’s a bottle that’s really performing right now.
